Attorney Higgins’ litigation experience focuses in the areas of family law, real estate transactional work and personal injury litigation. Attorney Higgins also has extensive experience in issues involving intimate partner violence and restraining order matters. She has also completed the State of Connecticut Guardian ad Litem and Attorney for the Minor Child training and certification program.
Attorney Higgins has extensive experience litigating all types of family law matters. She represents clients in simple to complex and highly contested divorces, legal separations, annulments and custody actions. Her practice includes handling post-judgment matters including contempt matters and modifications of existing orders. She has an extensive experience mediating family matters. She also routinely represents clients in restraining order and paternity matters.
While attending Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island, Attorney Higgins interned with the Child Abuse Unit of the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office. She assisted in the litigation of capital crimes as well as argued motions on behalf of children. Attorney Higgins also interned with the Rhode Island Office of the Mental Health Advocate, where she represented people with mental illness in issues before the court as well as housing related matters. Attorney Higgins earned her certificate as a certified mediator while attending law school and won awards for trial advocacy.
